Doug Polen and Phil Schiller are nominated to be among the 5 motorcyclists who will make it to this year's AMA Hall of Fame. Though all 5 of these motorcyclists have contributed in a big way to the industry and motorcycling sports, Ducati said that they would be specially honoring these two gentlemen who have made a great impact on the Italian motorcycle manufacturer.
While Phil was an accomplished journalist and expert race tuner, he along with Famer Cook Neilson has been associated with Ducati since Daytona 200. Phil even gave Ducati their first AMA superbike win in the US. Phil said that he was happy to have played a small part in the history of Ducati to ensure that it was showcased as an excellent brand with innovative engineering to bikers in the United States.
Doug Polen too has been a national and world champion racer in 1980s and 1990s and had an impressive win in 2 world superbike championships one in 1991 and the other in 1992 with an AMA superbike win in 1993.
