Perfect Qualifying For Penz13.com In Macau

Rico Penzkofer powered his Pirelli wheeled Penz13.com BMW S1000RR to the 9th spot during the qualification of the 45th Motorcycle Grand Prix in Macau.

The rider from B?¶hlen secured a best effort which was 5.008 seconds faster than his personal best time in the free practice on Thursday morning. Penzkofer is going to start tomorrow’s race out of the third row in the grid.

It has to be mentioned, that his best effort was only two seconds slower than the one of John McGuinness, who secured second place. Pole Position went with a time of 2.23,794 min to Macau-expert Michael Rutter who was 3.157 seconds faster than anyone else in the field. Penz13.com’s Horst Saiger from Austria secured 14th on the grid.

During the last two days every session of the motorbikes had to be cancelled due to rain except from the first free practice on Thursday morning, so today qualifying went ahead at the time originally the race start was planed. Now it’s planed to have a 30 minute Warmup-session at 7:30 am on Sundaymorning with the planed race start at 1:45 pm. The race has been cut short from 15 to 12 laps.

“I am more than super-happy and satisfied with my 9th spot on the grid. Of course, only two tenths faster and I could have been on the second row. But my times were pretty consistent and I was able to make the most out of my Qualifying tires from Pirelli. We had a little problem with an overheating engine. If I am going flat-out and giving it full throttle it’s ok, but as soon as I went a bit slower temperatures were up to over Сто degrees Celsius. But I have no intention to go slow in tomorrows race.”

“Today it didn’t work out for me. I always had the feeling like losing the front and I didn’t feel the tires. I don’t know why this comes. Hopefully we are able to improve during tomorrows Warmup”
