A CAR car painter said Joavan Fernandez mauled him after her refused to join the adopted son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez in a motorcycle race in the Cebu South Coastal Road last Saturday.
Casimiro Briones said that Joavan was to lead him to the home of a friend for a car-painting job on Friday night, according to an incident report allegedly written by barangay Candulawan councilor Adolfo Torregosa.
Joavan drove a motorcycle and lent Briones another one.
When the two reached the Cebu South Coastal Road, Joavan suggested that they have a motorcycle race.
Briones refused and instead went to Torregosa??s house and woke him up.
Briones told the councilor that he wanted to leave with him Joavan??s motorcycle, since he did not have a driver??s license and could not accompany Joavan to Cebu City.
Senior Insp. Francis Errol Deveyra, Talisay City police acting chief, called up Briones to ask him to to file a complaint.
Torregosa advised Briones to turn over the motorcycle to the Candulawan Barangay Hall or captain Virgilio Bacalso. But Briones left the motorcycle in Torregosa??s parking lot.
The next day, when Briones and Joavan met about 11 a.m., Joavan hit Briones in the face.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, PO3 Edwin Alvarado did not yet enter the incident report, which was brought in by an unidentified man aboard a government vehicle, into the Talisay City police station blotter.
Mayor Fernandez said he only heard of the incident when he was interviewed by the media yesterday morning.
Fernandez said that Joavan should face whatever complaint Briones may file against him.
